Almost all the guests together with Jenny & David arrived in a splendid coach to the Registry Office in Wiltshire. David thought it was hilarious that the coach had Swindon Town Football Club emblazoned on the sides!
The official who conducted the Ceremony was a very friendly chap but made it clear there was to be no pictures apart from the exchange of rings and ‘The Kiss’. (It’s amazing what you can manage though with a camera perched on your knee and a twitchy finger on the shutter!). When the camera is on ‘silent mode’ and of course no flash it doesn’t disrupt things at all. He was still smiling at me as we left the Ceremony Room so that was O.K.
During the Ceremony the weather was pretty grim with torrential rain falling outside. I’d scouted round the gardens beforehand and was hoping to take the group shots on the lawn but it wasn’t looking good. Fortunately just as I’d finish taking pictures of the bride and groom after they’d signed the Register, I stood back to let their guests take pictures, looked out of the window, saw the rain had stopped and WOW, the sun was coming out! Perfect!
I took several group shots and a few more besides and then right on cue, just as I’d taken all the pictures, that splendid Barnes coach arrived to take the guests to The Old Spotted Cow at Marston Meysey for the Reception.
I love this pub. Great food, friendly staff and where else can you get a warm reception from sheep in the nearby field?! The two young bridesmaids were intrigued by them.
Jenny and David had just thirty guests so after everyone had had their first drink we all spilled outside. Smaller, Intimate weddings are great as the guests are easier to round up although everyone was happy to stay in the garden, enjoying the sunshine until the food was served.
This was a fab wedding to photograph. Thank you Jenny and David for choosing me to photograph your very special day. I was made to feel very welcome by everyone and we had some fun with a quirky group shot.
Love and best wishes to you both.
